You’ve got a book stirring in your soul. Let me help you bring it into the world.
I’m Leah Kent, a writer, book coach, and book designer. I help radiant, creative visionaries just like you to bring their books and sacred body of work to life.
I support heart-centered creatives, experts, and entrepreneurs to write and self-publish books that clarify their message, establish their thought-leadership, and expand their impact and visibility.
Whether you choose private book coaching to go from idea to finished project, or small group writing circles, the work we do together will keep you inspired, focused, and motivated through the writing process.
At the heart of my work are the unshakeable beliefs that:
Everything you need to create what you desire already exists within you.
Your best source of wisdom and guidance is the voice of your own intuition.
If we trusted ourselves and expanded our connection to our creative channel, a lot of what we struggle with would begin to fall into place.
How I became a book coach
A lifelong writer, I became a book coach after self-publishing more than 40 journals and my first non-fiction book in less than a year. I immediately saw how self-publishing could beautifully weave together my love of writing, teaching, and graphic design.
When I received the first printed copy of my Sacred Unplanning Workbook, I was overjoyed. It swept me right back to the pride and exhilaration I felt when I wrote, illustrated, and bound two books of poetry in my high school creative writing class.
In 2019, I stopped doing my other work (women’s circles, branding and copywriting) and focused my energy on growing my intuitive writing programs and developing my book coaching practice.
As both a book coach and book designer, I’ve had the honor of helping dozens of clients bring their incredible voice and message into the world. These writers are driven by a deep sense of purpose and passion for helping and healing, and work in professions such as psychology, somatic healing, mental health and wellbeing, spirituality, and creativity.
My book coaching philosophy
I love working with authors who are ready to fully embody their sacred work in the world. If you’re ready to claim your expertise and share your message with even more confidence, clarity, and visibility, there’s a good chance we’d want to pour a cup of tea and start chatting about your book vision.
Here’s what I’ve seen over and over again: if you’re feeling called to write about the work you love, it means you’ve likely already written most of your book by the time we work together.
Let me clarify what I mean: if you’ve been supporting private clients, leading groups, classes or retreats, writing lesson plans or crafting blog posts, then you’ve already planted the seeds for your most brilliant book.
Merging a process of intuition with structure, the book coaching experience is focused on harvesting what you’ve already created so your book comes together with ease. Your writing unfurls as a natural expression of the unique perspective you’re here to share.
A few more things you might like to know about me
Favorite childhood storybook: Pickle Chiffon Pie - I revisited this as an adult and realized it was a wildly disempowering and misogynistic fairy tale (sigh).
On my bookshelf: anything about writing, heart-centered business, embodied living, spiritual ecology, witchcraft, and women’s circles.
On my playlist: Lucius, Snatam Kaur, Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe, Joni Mitchell.
Favorite thing a client has ever called me: “a literary Witch of wonder.”
Astrology: Aries Sun, Aquarius Moon, with Sagittarius rising
Where I’m rooted: Born and raised in California, I now live in the fertile Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts.
Where I’m growing: I’m an earth witch at heart, and our family is slowly building an off-grid oasis amidst the maples and cedars in our beautiful forest in Southeastern Vermont.
The Alchemy of Books
If you leave here with one thought, I hope it’s this: books are magic.
They’re sacred portals of wisdom that transcend time. Books you love that were written decades or centuries ago are still pulsing with the author’s energy and aliveness.
When you write your book, you’re reaching into the future to preserve your voice and energy on the page. Yes, your book makes a difference, right now in the present. But you’re also building a legacy that will blossom in the unknown future that’s yet to unfold.
But first, you have to write! Somehow the words have to get out of your heart, out of your head, and onto the page. And if it feels like a good fit, I’d be delighted to help with that.
